The Corozal Sugar Cane Producers Association’s main pillars of development is synonymous to social programs and environmental protection. We aim to provide for farmers and their families' needs by enhancing their livelihood while protecting the environment and its bio-diversity.
Our History
The Corozal Sugar Cane Producers Association was formed in January 2015 and by October 21st 2015, it was certified under Fairtrade International as a small producers organization.
The Association begun with 342 registered cane farmers in 2015/2016. In 2016/2017 it grew in registered farmers to 538 members. In 2017/2018 it grew again to 609 members and in 2018/2019, it grew to 615 cane farmers and in 2019/2020 we are at 621 registered cane farmers.
The Association has a well-developed environmental policy plan as well as a risk assessment plan where the main focus and aim is the preservation of the environment through various programs that not only help the environment but also helps the farmers with their day to day activities in the field sector with key Best Management Practices (BMP) to protecting the environment.
